Cary's Birthday Celebration

Last week, December 17, we celebrated Cary's birthday with a meeting at Lost Dog Pizza Company in Indianola. We had a great time and of course enjoyed some great pizza. Here are a few pictures...

Let's go eat some fish...and see Santa.... and other Holiday Happenings!!!

This past weekend was action packed for the kids(of course right??) Friday night was Mac Bain's birthday. Mac and his wife, Grace, live next door to Moms and Grandaddy (aka: Floyd and Elizabeth). Mac and Grace are like another set of Grandparents to Floyd, Moss and Blewett. Anyhoo.. Friday night the Melton's took the kids to Larry's Fish House for dinner and Mac's birthday. I think everyone had a great time.

On Sunday after church we ventured to the Country Club to the Kids Brunch with Santa. It was another large time.

Last week Floyd's Cub Scout Troop went Christmas Caroling at Indywood. I think they were a big hit!

Yesterday was Pillow's last day of school before the holidays.. therefore... Christmas Parties galore.

Floyd and his buddies! On SUGAR highs of course.

"Away In A Manger"

Each Christmas Season the Kindergarten at Pillow Academy puts on a live Nativity scene in front of the Kindergarten building. They start well before 7:30am so that the daily carpool can enjoy the production. Each 4K and 5K class takes a turn over a 2 week span wearing the precious costumes. This year, Anne Craig was an Angel. She's the first angel to the right of the stable just in case you can't spot her. Thank goodness it was not bitter cold the morning of their turn. A little rainy but that was ok too.

73rd Annual Roy Martin Parade Day 2008

This past Friday we hosted several or really quite a few family members and friends for the Band Festival Parade Day. This is a big deal in Greenwood and now that we are living on Grand Boulevard , which is the home stretch leg of the parade, there is no better excuse to have a celebration right?? Right! We have the perfect yard for the kids to play and watch the parade at the same time. It was cold and actually felt like Christmas. We had 2 firepits going in the front yard area, a "circus" (aka: beach) tent errected (not sure why we did that) and plenty of food and drink. Above are a few pics from the day. I should have taken more pictures. (Boooooo on my part) Oh well. Better luck next time.

It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas.....

Finally the decorating is complete... Thanks to Margie and Floyd that is. Well, and me too. I need to give myself some form of credit. For those who are not Facebook readers there has been constant commentary over the past few weeks on the fact that I have been watching my very own "Clark W. Griswold" at work for probably the past month or more. We inherited these wonderful holiday figurines from Craig and Cary that consisted of 7 trees, 1 angel, 1 Santa, 1 sleigh, 4 reindeer including Rudolf, 1 poinsetta and 1 snowflake. All about 4-6ft tall in stature. Cary used to display these in the lake behind their house in Greenville. Once we took possession of these cool creations Floyd ordered the "new and improved" version of exterior illumination in the form of tubular lighting to outline each in it's entirity. I must say that they do look great....some of the attached pictures don't do them justice. They look AWESOME. After 750 ft of tubular lighting, 3000 zip ties, 2 cracked/bleeding and bandaged hands the project is complete in our side yard or as Little Floyd calls it aka: THE football field. Enjoy!!

JUST A BUNCH OF TURKEYS!!!!

Well, another Thanksgiving has come and gone but not to say that the "inaugural" feast in our new home was anything short of a great time. It was just plain FUN. Complete with WABG showing up to capture some exciting footage of croquet and of Little Floyd saying what all he was thankful for...."family, friends, the sky, Jesus, OH and football". You can check him out online at www.wabg.com. Click under News Videos and then Greenwood Thanksgiving. I think young and old really had a ball. And I for one can say that I thoroughly enjoyed myself since I had to "take to the bed" the entire day on Friday to recover. No, it was not entirely due to the comsumption of countless bloody mary's. I think exhaustion came into play as well. No seriously....the day started late morning and went well into the evening hours. I think I will have to let the slide show speak for most of the day. Yes, the holidays are here. Cheers! Life is good and we have much to be thankful for this Holiday Season.
